What is Sonic SVM?

Sonic is a Solana L2 (Layer 2) that enables developers to write EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) programs and execute them as SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) contracts. Their primary usecase is in blockchain gaming with AAA titles like Fomoney, Rage Effect, Fansi, Sugar Kingdom and Delysium.

$SONIC is their utility token which is used across 10+ game platforms with millions of players using it for in game payments.

What is Sonic?

Sonic provides a full suite of tools aimed at blockchain gaming developers which utilize Solana's lightning fast transaction speeds and minuscule costs. It is a Layer 2 (L2) aimed at improving scalability and performance for decentralized applications (dApps).

It capitalizes on Ethereum's robust ecosystem while leveraging Solana's unmatched user experience. They are focused on Ethereum builders who are looking to create faster and inexpensive blockchain games.

HyperGrid is the framework which enables Ethereum dApps to settle transactions on Solana.

Sonic is the first atomic SVM chain built to enable sovereign game economies on Solana. Sonic enables sovereign game economies that rollup and settle on Solana.

Sonic is built on top of the first concurrent scaling framework for Solana, called HyperGrid. Sonic is the first instance of a Grid orchestrated by this framework.

HyperGrid is designed to introduce customizability and scale, while remaining natively composable to Solana.

Sonic's Solana x Ethereum interoperability

Sonic is designed to be compatible with both Solana and Ethereum. Developers build EVM dApps and deploy them on Solana using the HyperGrid interpreter.

Ethereum is the premier blockchain for retail users and commands a major mind share. EVM programs are notoriously slow and expensive. Sonic bridges the gap between the blockchains by enabling EVM programs to settle transactions on Solana (low cost and near instantaneous settlements).

HyperGrid is the infrastructure that ports EVM programs to Solana.

Sonic's Blockchain gaming focus

Blockchain gaming is the number one driver of new user adoption (outside of DeFi) to cryptocurrency and Sonic is hyper focused on this demographic. Through Sonic, AAA titles like Fomoney, Rage Effect, Fansi, Sugar Kingdom, and Delysium are pioneering sovereign game economies that settle transactions seamlessly on Solana.

Transactions on Solana give a user friendly experience that allows for a rate of play which gamers have become accustomed to.

Seamlessly deploy dApps from EVM chains to Solana via HyperGrid's interpreter.

Why Choose Sonic?

What is $SONIC?

$SONIC is the primary utility token of Sonic and trades on the Solana blockchain.

$SONIC is used in all Sonic games. Players are rewarded in $SONIC and use it to trade with other players, purchase items from the marketplaces and upgrade their characters.

  • Note: $SONIC is an SVM token and can only be traded on the Solana network.

What are the tokenomics of $SONIC?

The tokenomics of $SONIC are designed to promote sustainable growth and community involvement. With a total supply of 2.4 billion tokens, the distribution model allocates funds for community initiatives, ecosystem development and operational needs.

  • Ticker: SONIC
  • Total Supply: 2,400,000,000.00

A fraction of the $SONIC supply will be released upon TGE (Token Generation Event) with the rest released over the next two years. A majority of tokens are allocated for the community and operators of the network.

  • Ecosystem & Community: 30%
  • Initial Claims: 7%
  • Sonic HyperGrid Rewards: 20%
  • Foundation: 20%
  • Early Supporters: 8%
  • Investors: 15%

Team members and advisors have an 18-month freeze followed by a 16-month vesting period. These $SONIC tokens remain locked until fully vested.

What is HyperGrid?

Sonic is powered by HyperGrid, a novel rollup and orchestration framework that enables horizontal scaling across "grids" to achieve infinite transaction throughput (in theory). HyperGrid is #OnlyPossibleOnSolana and significantly boosts system scalability and performance on the blockchain.

It uses a sharding-like approach that enables parallel processing of transactions across multiple blockchains. This enables Sonic to migrate Ethereum applications to the Solana blockchain.

HyperGrid: Solana’s State-of-the-Art Layer 2

HyperGrid is a parallel processing framework designed to introduce customizability and scale, while being natively composable to Solana.

HyperGrid was created by Mirror World Labs, the framework is the developer infrastructure which powers Sonic. The unique scaling architecture of HyperGrid is built on Solana however is aligned with EVM-compatible chains like Polygon. Optimism and Arbitrum

Sonic's Horizontal scaling rollup architecture

The horizontal scaling rollup architecture of HyperGrid enables Sonic to improve its scalability by creating interconnected chains tailored for specific applications. This approach helps manage transaction loads more effectively while ensuring that different parts of the ecosystem can work together seamlessly.

How to deploy programs on Sonic

Sonic has detailed documentation for getting started on the network.

What is SonicX?

SonicX is the first TikTok App Layer from Sonic. The team has focused on marketing with TikTok and signed up over two million users. This targeted approach has gained Sonic a large following in the "normie" market. Blockchain gaming apps on Sonic are user friendly and don't present as a crypto product.

The process required no external wallet setup or gas fee payments. Since launch SonicX has onboarded over 700,000 new uses who are engaging with games on the Sonic network.

  • Simple login: Login directly with TikTok accounts
  • Engagement incentives: Real time rewards for in game activity
  • Easy onboarding: Familiar new account flows

We deploy premium TikTok ads and partner with TikTok creators so the platform’s algorithm recommends our campaign to users in target regions. You can directly access SonicX or our TikTok page via ads and videos.

Sonic's Testnet Odyssey

Testnet Odyssey was the first public unveiling of Sonic and the HyperGrid infrastructure. Testnet Odyssey was a blazing success by all accounts, in just two weeks they posted 300K unique wallets and 52M individual transactions.

The introduction of Sonic set the Ethereum developer world on fire and demonstrated that Sonic was a viable network to build on.

What is Mirror World?

Mirror World is the development and management company which built both HyperGrid and Sonic to disrupt blockchain gaming on Solana.

Their services and tools are free to use for entry-level developers and there is a significant threshold before they start to charge. This is a common strategy for blockchain infrastructure providers to promote their products.
