Backpack EU Launches: Regulated Crypto Derivatives, Live Across Europe
Today, Backpack Exchange is proud to announce the launch of Backpack EU, our fully regulated European trading platform.
Operating under a MiFID II license and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), Backpack EU gives European users access to perpetual futures in a secure, compliant, and innovative environment. Starting with over 40 trading pairs and up to 10x leverage, we’re delivering a regulated derivatives experience that has been missing in the European market.
A Milestone More Than a Year in the Making
This launch is not the result of weeks or months, it’s the product of over a year of persistence and execution.
- Over a year ago, we reached the initial agreement to acquire FTX EU Ltd.
- We then spent 6+ months in deep due diligence before CySEC approved the acquisition in January 2025.
- The next 6+ months were spent working hand-in-hand with regulators to build the right team, structure, and compliant product from the ground up.
- And before even opening the platform, we took on the responsibility of serving former FTX EU clients, managing the claims process for roughly 110,000 users and ensuring funds were returned safely.
We said we would make this happen and we did. That commitment is at the core of Backpack’s DNA.
